YOURSELF?

My name is Nour El Saleh, I’m a 20 year old fine art student at Slade.

PRACTICE?

I am in the painting area within the fine arts course but I try to use a range of media in my practice. While painting and drawing are the core of my practice, I’ve recently enjoyed experimenting with printwork, photography, sculpture and stop motion animation.

Through my work I like to challenge the boundaries of the real world within the comfort of my imaginary world. Recently I have been working with the concept of art as a parallel world that allows people to create a conversation between both worlds.

That being said, in my latest works, I have been exploring the idea of incorporating real and mundane day to day spaces and elements of the real world and seeing how they morph and reinvent themselves within my artworks.

DREAM COLLABORATION?

I would have loved to collaborate with Franz Kafka or Susan Sontag as their writing have fueled a lot of my ideas.

Realistically though, I would love to collaborate with someone that isn’t necessarily in the visual arts realm. I feel like working with a writer would be really exciting.

LONDON?

I feel like it’s a massive mix of diverse, passionate and insanely creative people. It’s so inviting, I absolutely love it!

SSSHAKE?

To hear about new ideas and meet cool people!
