YOURSELF?

I am Melody Battentier, a French Art Director living in London.

I also practice ballet dance and photography, and I try to link these two arts for my personal projects.

PRACTICE?

I’ve just launched a project called Magnets.

It’s a series of videos and photos focusing on creative artists trying to make a difference in the world through their work. By presenting each artist’s work through dance, Magnets blurs the lines between art forms, and aims to embody the feelings and emotions they create.

Dancing Devils is the first project of Magnets. It showcases the work of Zac Mehdid, a young artist. Fed up with « fast-fashion » and the way we consider clothes as disposable items, he decided to create a collection reusing old clothes and bringing them back to life by simply painting on them.

My objective is for now to share this project. Then I will start to think of new collaborations for the next one!

DREAM COLLABORATION?

I have so many dream collaborations in my head. It can be a collaboration with the dancer Lil Bucks, or the Fashion Designer Jacquemus, or something completely out of the “art”.

I would love to collaborate with brands and also associations and do something totally transgressif.

LONDON?

The creative scene is crazy in London. For me, it’s a city with so many talents. The other thing is that London, compare to other capitals, is really cosmopolitan. Talents have different backgrounds and it bring something more, different, deep, surprising.

SSSHAKE?

I expect to find a strong network of creative people and be able to collaborate or work together.

I also think that SSSHAKE needs to continue to organise events, as we can all meet face to face and chat about our ideas.
