YOURSELF?

I am a writer and director – I have directed short films and promo content and currently training to direct theatre at the Young Vic. I’m also an actor and I model… for fun.

PRACTICE?

Right now I really love directing. I’m doing a lot with it and I’m just experimenting with the process of directing on different projects and seeing what I enjoy the most. I found out I really love the process of shooting on analogue format (super 16mm film) so I’ve been trying to carry that on with the projects I direct.

I’m currently finishing up working with a sound designer and colourist on a short film I directed called The Money Tree whilst at The National Film and Television School. It’s a fantasy/comedy about an introverted boy who wishes he were as popular like most of his classmates. So when he receives a gift of a bonsai tree that mysteriously grows money he sees that as a chance to gain friends.

I’m also planning to shoot a short film next month, which is an adaptation and modernization of William Shakespeare’s tragedy, Romeo and Juliet. In this adaptation two rival gangs occupy a council estate in a dystopian South East London. The Montague and The Capulet feud and London is now a war zone. This film is a comment on the growing murders in London.

Also I have music videos in the pipeline and short films to release and finish writing.

DREAM COLLABORATION?

Bradford Young is an amazingly talented Director of Photography/Cinematographer and I would love to work with him. I had the privilege of seeing him at a talk at the British Society Cinematography Expo. I met him after the talk and got to hear what he had to say about how he would tackle shooting the Hans Solo Star Wars film. He has shot some amazing films like Arrival, Selma and A Most Violent Year - the list goes on. Hearing how he shoots his films was really inspiring. I’m pretty open about collaborating with people in general though. If you are good and passionate I say why not.

LONDON?

I think it’s an amazing time to be a creative in London right now. The creative scene, especially the film/short film and music video directing scene right now is definitely on an all time high. I have this conversation with my friends quiet a lot and it’s so good seeing people from London stepping up the quality – it makes all creatives in London look good. Stories in London are so particular right now and I think London currently is really embracing itself right now. It’s ‘cool’ to be from London and I think we take pride in our city.

SSSHAKE?

Sometimes it can be hard to search for people to work with who you are and on the same wave. I hope to be connected to talented and passion filmmakers/creative based in London.
