YOURSELF?

I am an art scholar and post graduate from Central St Martins, who paints vibrant and eclectic large scale oil paintings, from my studio in Dalston, East London.

I have exhibited in numerous group shows around London, Portugal and Morocco and I’m a keen advocate for the emerging art scene in London. I founded a pop up Art Gallery and collective called “Meet The Artists” that has represented over 100 emerging artists from London.

Two areas of exploration for me as an artist are empowerment and community; how we can unite cultures through the revolutionary tool of ART

PRACTICE?

I have a big show on Oxford street at the end of Feb 2018 and an open studio in April. All updates are on my insta :-)

My paintings are continual explorations of colour, form and texture. I am currently investigating how far I can stretch the form whilst still portraying the essence and energy of a person or place.  All of my work has an underlying interest in empowerment through imagery and written word. For my solo show “Living in to your Portrait”, I focused on painting peoples “Giant” self, exploring how if we focus on what we want more than what we don’t want, it starts to become our reality.

Another element to my work is that I like to make the mundane - magical, using bright vivacious colours, painting in hot pink skies, for example. Some of my landscapes and scenes lean towards the fantastical. Into places we have not visited, yet we feel connected to. Insinuating a dream, deja vu or another life, a play between our reality and other worlds.

DREAM COLLABORATION?

I would say Picasso due to his way of creating childlike simplistic and playful form and Anselm Kiefer due to his pure vast textural paintings. Everything he touches is alive.

LONDON?

I think the London creative scene is booming with so much talent, and there are not enough galleries to house them! So much talent gets missed, so we all need to learn how to get seen and heard, by our own means through social media or by using a step up through a gallery, both, ideally. I have set up a pop up initiative called Meet The Artists, to create a platform for emerging artists in London, somewhere with high quality original art, live performances and most importantly you can meet the artists. So it’s really personal, our aim is to transform the gallery space into an accessible, affordable and approachable space for artists and the public. Making art more accessible to the more people.

SSSHAKE?

To be inspired by their talent, and to build a community of artists that support each other on this journey….but most importantly to play, have fun and create!!
